Doula Support During the Pandemic

Birthing people and parents need support just as much, if not more during the pandemic.

The safety of my clients and my family is my top priority.

I have taken an IPAC (infection prevention and control) course  and am continuing to follow all public health recommendations to prevent becoming infected with or transmitting COVID-19 (including receiving both my vaccines and booster).    I am happy to provide potential clients with further details about my COVID-19 prevention protocols upon request.

At this time I am able to provide in person support at:
  • Client's homes (for both postpartum and birth support)
  • Ottawa Hospital (both Civic and General campuses)*
  • Queensway Carleton Hospital*
  • Montfort Hospital*
  • Ottawa Birth and Wellness Center*
*Each hospital / birth center has specific guidelines, policies and procedures that I (and all support people) must adhere to.

If you are not comfortable with (or unable to) receive in person support, please contact me to discuss options for virtual support.

Updates:
June 11, 2022:  The Ontario government has lifted the mask mandate for most public settings but, after careful consideration, I have elected to continue masking and asking my clients to do the same when I am with them.    The decision was not made lightly but, given the close contact I have with my clients and their babies, continuing to mask is the best way to keep my clients, their babies, my family and myself safe.  I will continue to screen myself and ask clients to screen themselves for symptoms of illness or risk factors.

February 22, 2022:  The Ottawa Hospital, Montfort Hospital and Queensway Carleton hospitals are back to allowing 2 support people for each birthing person.  I am able to provide in person support to birthing people and their partners again as the second support person.

Please note: while I do my best to keep this page up to date, policies change with very little notice, so I cannot guarantee the information provided is accurate.
